My wife Rachel recently reminded me that I used to meet up with her at the business school on a unicycle with no shoes, Yikes! At the time, I was really into the jam bands scene, like one Phish show away from wearing a corduroy skirt and hula hooping with a water bottle balanced on my head. At least it was fun.
New Orleans is a lot of things; it can be a difficult place to live and most long-term residents have a serious love / hate relationship with it. But it will never be dull.
As the days grow longer and hotter, I feel even more the lack of the festivals, parties, and celebrations that we’ve tabled. To not celebrate a tomato in blistering heat or watch the Black Widow take down 552 oysters in 10 min...what the hell is going on here?
Luckily if you live in this chaotic city, you’re probably the type of person who lives on the brighter side. Most of us are skilled in the ability of having fun in the toughest of times.
As Rachel well knows...
“once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right”
